Summer Sessions: Willie Jackson
Over the next couple of weeks, PowerMizzou.com will talk to every Missouri scholarship basketball player in our annual series, Summer Sessions. The Tigers started summer practices last week. Today, we continue with freshman swing man Willie Jackson.
How has the transition been in your first couple of weeks on campus?
"After the first week, you get through the first week, everything's all good. It's been good. Got a good group of guys that want to work, that always keep you up so it's been good."
As far as the weight room, is it tougher than anything you've done before?
"Not really because I come from a powerhouse high school where it was always weights after practice, weights before practice. I adjusted well. It was more just keeping the other freshmen up that haven't really been lifting and stuff like that. It was cool."
People have praised your size and strength coming in. Do you feel like you're college ready right away?
"Yes. I knew that at the beginning of my senior year. My coach would always tell me to work on my skill, but body-wise I was ready. I always had a college body. I always was like a manchild for high school. I adjusted well, I think I'm ready, coaches think I'm ready. So just get ready for the season."
