Summer Sessions: Frankie Hughes

Over the next couple of weeks, PowerMizzou.com will talk to every Missouri scholarship basketball player in our annual series, Summer Sessions. The Tigers started summer practices last week. Today, we continue with freshman guard Frankie Hughes.

Frankie Hughes originally signed with Louisville, but switched to Mizzou this spring.

What was the process of leaving Louisville and ending up here? Take me through how it happened.

"The situation me and my parents got into, with me committing to Louisville and signing, I mean, we didn't think it was going to get as severe as it did. So we didn't feel comfortable with our decision. We sat down, discussed, contacted coaches at Louisville, we just told them what we wanted to do. They agreed with it because they said they understand. As that went on and I decommitted, Missouri coaches, Coach Rob, Coach A, Willie had committed here, they had a strong relationship, they contacted me, got me on a visit, I loved it. I loved Columbia's atmosphere, from the players to the students to the coaching staff to the teachers. Everything, the whole atmosphere, that really drew me to come here."

Willie said you guys talked way back as freshmen about playing together and then that kind of fell apart, but ended up happening.

"Knowing him since like sixth grade, that was a big deal. I seen him grow up. That's like my brother, actually. Freshman year, we decided we were going to the same college. When it fell apart, I guess God had a plan to just make it happen some way."
