Missouri trio plays the waiting game

The poking and prodding have long been over. The questions and interrogations have passed.

Looking good in underwear doesn't mean much anymore

Thursday marks the start of the 2016 NFL Draft, and for Missouri's Evan Boehm, Connor McGovern and Kentrell Brothers -- the three top draft prospects for the Tigers -- it may be a long, but hopefully unforgettable weekend.

Boehm has been back home in Lee's Summit since his Pro Day in late March, training at Lee's Summit West High School.

"I'm excited," Boehm said. "Yeah, nervous about where I'm going to go, what team I'm going to be on, but honestly, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I'm excited to be in the process and I'm blessed to be where I'm at.

"I'm excited for the process to be over, but I'm excited to get to join a new team."

"I'm pretty relaxed," McGovern said. "I'm done with everything that I can control at this point, so it's out of my hands. I'm just enjoying it."

After team meetings and interviews wrapped up in early April, Boehm said his contact with coaches has been more limited.

"Now it's just teams calling, checking my phone number, getting my phone number, just in case," Boehm said. "Seeing if we're still healthy, things like. Just making sure if they make that call to you, that they have the right phone number and a back-up number."

McGovern said there's no indication of which teams are favoring him; he said he's still hearing in some capacity from a large number of organizations. If Boehm and McGovern have any indication of which round they'll eventually go in, they aren't letting on.

"The draft is so split everywhere, nobody really knows what's going to happen," Boehm said. "Whenever the phone call comes, that's when we'll know. That's just the fun part, the excruciating, fun nervousness that you have to go through."

"It's kind of still all over the spectrum right now," McGovern said.

It seems, based on his draft plans, that Boehm is expecting to hear his name on Saturday, during round four through seven of the draft. On Friday, he's watching the draft with a small group of people at his grandparents' house.

"On Saturday, we're having a larger party," Boehm said. "Inviting coaches and neighbors, people that have supported me throughout the years of high school and college, and I invited some friends from college to come down and hang out."

McGovern will be back home in Fargo, N.D. True to his subdued personality, he's not planning anything big this weekend.

"Just hanging out with family," McGovern said. "Just laid back. Having the TV on and hanging out."
