The Stats

We caught up with Howie Lindsay, the publisher of CardinalSports.com, to answer some questions about his time covering Greg Brown at Louisville.

PowerMizzou.com: In his short stint at Louisville, what was Brown's reputation among his players and the media?

Howie Lindsay: He's a crafty little guy. The players seemed to like him. He didn't seem to be too much of a yeller and always seemed to be humming or singing as he went around the football complex. He almost never talked with the local media outside of Media Day so I'm not sure too much about his personality.

PM: He coached some very good players in Louisville's secondary. What kind of noticeable improvements or regression did you see in the secondary the last two years?

HL: Louisville's talent level was incredible while he was here with James Sample and Gerod Holliman both turning pro early in 2014 and Josh Harvey-Clemons and Chucky Williams both playing fairly well this season. Coverage issues appeared at times this season, but I wonder how much of that was two new players and how much of that was direct coaching.

PM: Finally, what is Brown's reputation as a recruiter, and what areas was he responsible for recruiting?

HL: He was Louisville's central Florida recruiter. Young players seemed to like him and his playful banter probably played well in living rooms. Most of Louisville's recruiting seemed to be handled through admin staffers and DC Todd Grantham, but the Cardinals did land a few good-looking safety prospects while Greg Brown was on campus.
