Daniel Parker makes early decision

On Saturday night, Daniel Parker said he was planning to visit Iowa, Missouri, Iowa State and Nebraska during the month of August. Less than 24 hours later, the 2018 Blue Springs defensive lineman put a stop to the recruiting process.

“I verbally committed to Missouri,” Parker said on Sunday evening, moments before tweeting the same message.

During a conversation at Missouri’s Night at the Zou elite recruiting camp, Parker played it coy, giving no indication his recruitment could be drawing to a close.

“It was in my mind,” he said. “I wanted to get out there Saturday night and see how it would be, how the coaches and players would bring me in.

“I like the atmosphere, I loved the feeling of being on the Mizzou field. The players that were there made me feel like I was one of them.”

And so Parker called the Mizzou coaches and talked with Andy Hill and Barry Odom on Sunday, giving them their first commitment of the 2018 class.

“They were psyched,” Parker said of the reaction. “They were so happy they got a recruit to stay in state, they were psyched up.”

Parker said he could play either defensive end or defensive tackle in Columbia. He currently checks in at 6-foot-3, 270 pounds as he prepares to begin his junior season at Blue Springs.
