Commitment Analysis: Marvin Terry

The Missouri Tiger football class stands at 17 after picking up Texas defensive lineman Marvin Terry. What does the it mean for the rest of the 2016 recruiting class and beyond? PowerMizzou.com takes a look.

Current Commitments: 17

Projected Total Commitments: 22

Remaining Spots: 5

Defensive Linemen Committed: 3

Defensive Linemen Projected: 4-5

Remaining Spots: 1-2

At this point, we fully admit our projections for the class involve a lot of guesswork. With a new staff in place, how many current players or commitments might not stick around? How many new targets are there? Have the position numbers changed? It's all impossible to know at this point in time so all we can do is give our best estimates.

The three defensive line commitments seem to be pretty solid. The Tigers have quite a bit coming back at that position, but you can never have too many men up front in the SEC. Another DL commit or two wouldn't be a surprise at all.

Terry and Tre Williams are defensive ends all the way (although Terry could be an outside linebacker if Mizzou moves more to a 3-4), with Tyreic Martin more likely to move inside. Of the players who already report Mizzou offers, Isaiahh Loudermilk, Jovan Swann and possibly Handsome Tanielu would seem to be the most likely to visit and perhaps end up as Tigers.

But again, a new staff is in town and handing out new offers on a regular basis. It's certainly possible the Tigers take another lineman or two and we don't know the Tigers are even looking at them right now. It should be an interesting seven weeks until signing day.
